Fortnite Creative Music Blocks Guide (updated)

This guide will teach you how to easily make popular songs, with Music Blocks, in Fortnite Creative. You don't need to know anything about music, just give a quick read to the tutorial below and you'll be able to create any (almost) song you want in Fortnite.

How are the letter notes formatted here?

First, let's learn a bit about how the songs are written here, and what are the "Octaves".
An average piano / keyboard has keys for 4-5 octaves, as you can see in the picture above. Octaves 4, 5 and sometimes 6 are use to make the melody in a song. Octaves 1, 2, 3 are used to make the bass in a song.

The songs listed here are formatted like this (it's for Crab Rave):

The numbers in front of each line represent the Octave, Crab Rave uses notes from octave 4 and 2, so the first line is the melody, the second line is the bass.
RH and LH, means "right hand" and "left hand", it's helpful for people who play the songs on pianos, so in Fortnite you can ignore them.

The notes are written it 2 ways, with lowercase letters and UPPERCASE letters.

• Lowercase (c d e f g a b) means C D E F G A B in Fortnite
• Uppercase (C D F G A) means C# D# F# G# A# in Fortnite.

The letter notes here are written with lowercase / uppercase system, instead of traditional # notes, because it's easier to align the notes like this (1 character for each note).

Octaves in Fortnite

To play the songs here you can use only the green notes from Fortnite. (You can, of course, use the other colored notes too, if you want to make the songs sound different, i'll cover them at the bottom of the post.)

So as you can see there are 6 groups of green notes, that represents the octaves of a normal piano.

So one dash (-) equals 1 empty blocks space in game. It's helpful to make a long line of blocks first, to help you align the blocks easier.

You can align the block however you want, the only rule is to make the "face" of the music block face you, to activate it.

Here's an example of a different song.

As you can see it activates 4 notes at the same time.

Octaves for other colored blocks

Here's a full list of the octaves for all music blocks. Note that to some of them i "assigned" 2 octaves, just test them both to see which sounds better for a particular song.

I recommend always to use blocks that aren't green for bass (octaves 1,2,3)

Other tips:

1. Some songs posted are a little more complex, and uses more notes, for example something like this:

In this case you have to play, at the same time, all the notes that are on the same column, so this means you play them grouped like this: eee, gee, eee, aecaa, a, aec, a, aec, aec, aecbb, aec, aebee, aeb, aeb ...

2. Set the "Grid" setting to 16, to align the blocks easier. Also make the songs on a "Block" island, because 4 music blocks fits perfectly in a big blue square, so knowing this will help you count the spaces faster.

3. Use "Music Sequencer" (Devices tab) to play the songs, it has a lot of options that will help you to adjust the speed just right for any song. You can also use "Movement Modulator" (Devices tab) to get the required speed boost, on most songs you'll need to set it to "Very Fast", or "Super Fast".
